B.S. to M.A.: Course Sequence

Pre-professional courses and university general education requirements are taken during the freshmen and sophomore year.  The professional courses begin in the junior year for the two-year track or the summer before the senior year.

Summer Session

Summer session begins in mid-June and continues for eight weeks.

OT 405 Foundations: Occupation (2 units)
OT 406 Foundations: Creativity, Craft and Activity Analysis (2 units)
OT 440 Foundations: Kinesiology (2 units)
OT 441 Foundations: Neuroscience (2 units)

Fall Semester - Senior Year

Fall semester generally begins in late August and continues for 16 weeks.

Practice Immersion Course
ONE of the following (8 units with corresponding Level I fieldwork):

OT 401 Adult Physical Rehabilitation and Disability
OT 402 Mental Health
OT 403 Pediatrics

AND:
OT 410 Therapeutic Use of Self (2 units)
OT 451 Neuroscience of Behavior (4 units)
OT 480 Quantitative Research for Evidence-Based Practice (4 units)

Spring Semester - Senior Year

Spring semester begins in January and continues for 16 weeks.

Practice Immersion Course
ONE of the following (8 units with corresponding Level I fieldwork):

OT 401 Adult Physical Rehabilitation and Disability
OT 402 Mental Health
OT 403 Pediatrics

OT 411 Clinical Reasoning (3 units)

Summer session begins in mid-May and continues for 12 weeks.

OT 486 Clinical Internship with Seminar (2 units)

*Students wishing to begin taking classes as a junior may apply to the Bachelor Two-Year Track Program which starts in fall of the junior year. For those students, the course sequence is as follows:

Fall semester generally begins in late August and continues for 16 weeks. During the junior year, classes generally meet once or twice a week on USC’s Health Sciences Campus.
