Biography
Karen Park earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego and a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California. Karen has extensive experience in pediatric practice in early intervention, clinic, home and school settings, as well as in sensory integration and oral motor, feeding and swallowing intervention. For the first five years of her career, she gained clinical experience at a private pediatric clinic, Center for Developing Kids. Karen was instrumental in designing and implementing two play-based, multi-modal feeding groups working with parents and children with oral motor challenges and feeding aversions. Karen managed the volunteer program for prospective occupational therapy students and was also the Coordinator of Occupational Therapy, where she mentored and provided training in pediatric interventions, assessments and evaluation for staff. In 2009, she joined the faculty of the Division as Assistant Coordinator of Fieldwork Education. In this role, she has been coordinating Level I, out of state, and international fieldwork placement and development.
Karen is certified in Sensory Integration and the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT). Karen also holds an Advanced Practice Certification in Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation, and Intervention, and is a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor. Karen contracts with the San Gabriel Pomona Regional Center to provide in-home services for the early intervention population. She is also the Lead OT for the Interdisciplinary Feeding Clinic at the USC University Center for Excellence in Development Disabilities (UCEDD) at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
