Biography

Mahjabeen Aftab Hashmi is a clinical instructor of occupational therapy and, since 1998, has been a Certified Lymphedema Therapist by the Lymphology Association of North America®. She graduated in 1977 from the occupational therapy program at the University of Karachi (Pakistan). She has worked in multiple practice settings and with different diagnostic groups including neurological, cardiovascular, orthopedic and organ transplantation.
 
After joining the Keck Medical Center of USC in 2001, she established a comprehensive program in lymphedema and edema management for out- and inpatients. In promoting occupational therapy and lymphedema programming she works closely with several specialty groups at USC. Her other clinical interest is care for oncology patients. She has developed programs for breast cancer survivors and head and neck cancer survivors that emphasize early intervention and survivorship to improve quality of life, occupational engagement, healthy habits and routines and lymphedema management.
