Tuition and Fees

The University of Southern California is a private institution where tuition is the same for all students. Residents of California, residents of other states, and international students all have the same tuition rate.

Tuition for 2014-2015 is $1,602 per unit. There is a flat fee of $23,781 each semester for 12-18 undergraduate units or 15-18 graduate units, otherwise tuition is charged on a per unit basis.

Estimated 2014-2015 tuition and fees for undergraduate and graduate students in occupational science and occupational therapy are presented below. Tuition and fees are subject to change and are expected to be the same or slightly higher for 2015-2016.

Note: OTD costs are listed for students who have earned a Master’s degree in the Division within the past five years. All other students may require additional coursework to be determined.

Doctor of Philosophy in Occupational Science (Ph.D.)

Currently, students selected for admission to the Ph.D. program are awarded fellowships or assistantships which cover full tuition, an annual stipend of $28,000, and student health and dental benefits. Total support is estimated to be about $60,000 per year.


* USC Fees include: one-time $350 orientation fee, Student health service fee ($272.5/semester, summer $228), Student programming fee ($62.5/semester), Student services fee ($16/semester), Norman H. Topping Student Aid Fund ($8/semester).

Additional expenses may include:

  • Optional student health insurance (verification of other health insurance is required if student health insurance is not purchased at registration). Current USC Student Health Fees are: Fall 2014 $610, Spring/Summer 2015 $1,102.
  • Stafford Loan Fees are estimated at $217 per year and Graduate PLUS Loan Fees are estimated at $1,237 per year.
  • USC Financial Aid Office estimates annual undergraduate student costs of $12,902 for room and board, $1,500 for books and supplies, $900 for personal and miscellaneous and $580 for transportation.
  • USC Financial Aid Office estimates annual graduate student costs of $16,100 for room and board, $1,344 for books and supplies, $1,828 for personal and miscellaneous and $2,520 for transportation.
