About the USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice

At the USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice, we know that the best medical outcomes depend upon consistently health lifestyle choices. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cite chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, arthritis, pain and tobacco dependence as today’s leading causes of death and disability. High-risk lifestyle factors like poor diet, sedentary activity and tobacco use can be successfully redesigned into healthier ones with the right combination of support, education and therapeutic guidance from our Faculty Practice clinicians.

Our practice is the birthplace and home of Lifestyle Redesign®, an innovative intervention model built upon the USC Well Elderly Study, which showed that preventive occupational therapy slows the declines associated with typical aging and improves health, functioning and life satisfaction. Typically over several months, Faculty Practice occupational therapists collaborate with patients to address their specific needs and contexts, educate them about relevant topics, and set and attain achievable lifestyle goals. In the end, our patients take away a customized plan that redesigns their lifestyle in support of healthier living and better disease management.
